While Reggie Sharpe may have grown up just outside the city, he carries that contagious Detroit energy in every swing, every catch, and every leap. Inspired by Detroit’s legendary work ethic and athletes like Sauce Gardner, Reggie hustles harder.
From early days on local fields to high school championships, Reggie’s journey is a testament to relentless hard work. A smaller guy with bigger dreams, he stayed up late, woke up early, and pushed through every obstacle. His work ethic wasn't just about outworking his peers; it was about embodying the grit and grind that Detroit is known for. No matter what teams he was on, he made sure to play with the Detroit Raiders, ensuring he stayed connected to his roots.
Reggie’s story took a dramatic turn during his senior year. Facing the toughest decision of his young life, he left behind his home high school, friends, and family to attend a boarding school near Charlotte, North Carolina. There, he dedicated himself to getting bigger, stronger, and better. Despite feeling homesick and suffering a minor thumb injury that stopped him from playing in the pre-season, Reggie overcame these challenges and emerged stronger.
Reggie’s journey is marked by standout performances, an unforgettable 2018 Little League World Series walk-off, earning accolades such as 2nd Team All-State in 2022, 2nd Shortstop in Michigan, a State Championship win in 2021, and an All-Region selection in 2022. Committed to Michigan State University, Reggie embodies core values of positivity, discipline, leadership, and humor, earning him the nickname "Mr. Smoove" for his smooth playing style.
As draft day approaches, Reggie Sharpe stands as a symbol of what it means to hustle harder. His journey demonstrates heart, grind, and the unbreakable spirit that mirrors the very essence of Detroit. Reggie isn’t just ready for the MLB; he’s ready to bring that Detroit hustle to the big leagues and beyond. His long-term goal is to own commercial real estate across the country and endow a scholarship for young athletes who are walk-ons without financial means. In his spare time, he studies real estate and volunteers time assisting his former coaches.
